Welcome to Summer 2018!

The Pelican Lakes team would like to welcome all our members to another fun-filled summer at our wonderful facilities. We are excited to see everyone’s faces again soon. We will open the Pelican Lakes members-only swimming pool and inflatable water play structure in a few weeks and want to outline our policies regarding these facilities to ensure everyone’s safety.

Pelican Lakes Swimming Pool

The pool will open Friday, May 25 and hold daily hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The pool is private property and there is no entry outside of posted hours, and all guests must be accompanied by a member. Each membership includes a free day pass for one person. Any additional guests will be $5/each. Please remember that all participants swim at their own risk.

Children over the age of 10 are welcome to swim without a guardian. Children under this age must be accompanied by their guardian. The slide is designated for children under the age of 12. Children not yet toilet-trained must wear a swim diaper.

Other pool rules to remember are no diving, no breath holding, no running, no glass containers of any kind, no smoking and no pets. No outside alcohol or food is permitted at the pool under any circumstances. Shoes must be worn outside of the pool area at all times. Also, please adhere any other policies enforced by lifeguards.

Inflatable Water Structure

The hours for the play structure reflect the pool hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. A safety check of the area will be conducted every morning prior to opening.

All guests using the play structure must CHECK IN and CHECK OUT on the check-in board with the life guards. Guests who do not remember to check out will be given one warning and those who are repeat violators of the policy will be prohibited from using the beach area or play structure for a week.

The swim test is available for guests ages 11 and up only. Guests under the age of 11 are required to wear a life vest. The test is comprised of swimming beyond the structure, behind it and then back to the beach. Swimmers must then tread water for 30 seconds.

Wristbands will be used to identify guests who can or cannot use the play structure. Children under the age of 4 will not be able to use the structure and must stay within arm’s reach of their guardian and will be designated by red wristbands. Guests between the ages of 5-18 who have not passed the swim test will be required to wear life jackets and will be wearing purple wristbands. Guests age 11 and up who have passed the swim test will be wearing green wristbands and are not required to wear life vests.

There is a maximum number of people who can be on the structure, as well as specific numbers for each part of the structure. Please respect the life guards when they are enforcing these quotas.

Once per hour, the guards will be call for a 10-minute break. The check-in board will be cleared to allow for new people to play on the structure.

Safety rules for the play structure will be strictly enforced. There is no swimming beneath the structure allowed at any time. Guests may not hang off the buoys around the swimming area. Pushing or doing flips off the “bubble” portion of the play structure is not allowed. Jumping off the blue ring is prohibited, as is jumping off the slide. All guests must go feet-first and face-up down the slide. Swimmers in the water must swim beyond the orange buoy before someone else can go down the slide. Guests are not permitted beneath the slide area at any time.

If the guards fear that we may have a situation of a missing swimmer, they will clear the play structure and beach using their whistles. All guests must report to the check-in board to be accounted for.

We are thrilled to host another exciting summer at Pelican Lakes, and hope everyone enjoys their time spent at our facilities.

Have a great summer!
